Especially in the bathroom, the floor covering is exposed to particular conditions. Accordingly, choosing a suitable floor is primarily a question of functionality. To create a true oasis of well-being, the floor covering is also part of the overall concept. However, it must withstand bathroom conditions. Important: Choose a non-slip or even non-slip variant. Furthermore, with the right equipment you can ensure a stable footing to prevent possible injuries caused by slipping.

Toilets: what do I really need?

When building or renovating a bathroom the question arises: what equipment is needed? The answer to this question always depends on the needs and wants of the residents. As soon as more people use the bathroom, it is advisable to do so two sinks to install. There is one for families with small children lower sink often a good idea.

Newly built and renovated bathroom with double sink

A so-called bidet is an absolute luxury. Although the one meter high swimming pool is not yet very widespread in Germany. However, it offers a variety of uses that make everyday life easier.

To ensure greater accessibility, builders can choose a walk-in shower when building or renovating the bathroom.

The issue of storage space is also important during the renovation or construction of a new bathroom. Of course, the same applies even if multiple family members live in the house more storage space realize. We’ve put together some ideal storage space ideas for you:

A corner shelf in the shower

In order to be able to store shower gels, shampoos, etc. in an orderly manner, we recommend doing so a corner shelf to attach and assign a compartment to each family member. This means that care products are not scattered on the shower tray. Chaos is easily eliminated.

A small shelf above the toilet

Often little attention is paid to the wall space above the toilet. However, this space is particularly suitable for installing a small shelf. Various creams or soaps can be stored there.

Washbasins with storage compartments

To provide even more storage, builders can choose cabinetry that offers additional space. To store towels and washcloths, there are variants with closed drawers or open shelves.

Important For all bathroom furniture: Always maintain a distance of approximately 3 cm from the wall to avoid the formation of mould.

The bathroom also needs to be lit

When building a bathroom in a new building, builders often have the opportunity to freely choose the location of the windows.

In the so-called northern baths a bluish light shines. This creates a cool, fresh atmosphere. Bathrooms with east-west facing windows shine in a reddish-yellow light. South-facing bathrooms have more neutral light. To make the most of daylight, paint the walls and ceiling white or light pastel shades.

Lots of daylight is always a feel-good factor. But the bathroom obviously also requires electric light. Important: only install lamps suitable for humid environments. Even the splash-proof ones are better Lamps, those VDE and TÜV tested I am. Place ceiling lighting in the center of the room. To avoid being blinded, light bulbs should not be visible in the mirror. The specialist mounts the lamps for the mirror on the right and left at eye level so that the face is illuminated without shadows.

Heat and climate

The optimal room temperature in the bathroom is between 19°C and 24°C. To keep the temperature in the room constant, it is advisable to install a thermostat on the radiator when building or renovating the bathroom. This always keeps the temperature in the desired range.

Even in the bathroom, the right humidity is essential. At best, this is around 40%. After a shower or bath the humidity in the bathroom can increase rapidly. Therefore, adequate ventilation is very important. To avoid mold growth, you should open the window after showering or bathing. It’s not enough to tilt the window. To allow an even faster exchange of air, a passage should also be created. Open several windows and, if necessary, the door. If you want to precisely measure the humidity in the bathroom, you can do this with a so-called hygrometer. This allows residents to see when humidity needs to be adjusted.
