KfW financing 2023 The new guidelines

On 1 March 2023, the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) launched the new financing program “Climate-friendly new buildings”, which replaces the previous federal financing for efficient buildings (BEG). KfW financing 2023: What innovations does the “Climate-friendly new construction” financing program include?

As a result, the ecological requirements for new buildings to be financed are high. Currently, for a building to receive financing, the following requirements must be met:

Energy standard for residential buildings: Energy efficiency standard EH40

The EH40 or 40 Plus standard indicates an energy efficiency of 40% compared to the reference building required by law. The 2023 KfW financing applies exclusively to KfW Efficiency Houses 40; other efficiency standards such as KfW 85, 70 or 55 will no longer be supported in the future.

Greenhouse gas emissions during the life cycle of a building should be as low as possible. A life cycle analysis (LCA) can be carried out when designing a building to make statements about emissions from electricity and heat use and to make appropriate adjustments.

Another criterion for KfW financing in 2023 is the integration of renewable energy and climate-friendly heat production. Heat pumps and photovoltaic systems improve the energy efficiency of a building and increase its energy efficiency. However, homes whose heat production relies on fossil fuels or biomass, including wood pellets, are excluded.

How much is the KfW financing amount in 2023?

The KfW financing 2023 enables financing private residential buildings up to 100% of eligible costs and one maximum loan amount of 100,000 euros. KfW financing 2023: Which building measures can benefit from financing?

In addition to new construction or the acquisition of existing properties, measures for the energy-efficient renovation of existing buildings can also be financed.
