When designing a house or renovating it, the bathroom is now an important part. The sanitary area has long ceased to be a functional part of the house; it’s also about this Living comfort and key factors of well-being . Bathroom design has become increasingly important. Showers, bathtubs etc. they are now part of the overall design idea of a house as much as the living area and the dining area. With this article we would like to give you some of them showcasing our healthcare design options and, above all, inform you about the advantages and disadvantages of the different shower variants.
Which shower is best?
Many builders ask themselves this very question before building their home or renovating their bathroom fixtures. Unfortunately we cannot give a clear answer because the requirements for a shower can be very individual. But we promise: We have the right shower for everyone!
- Conventional tub with shower curtain
- Shower enclosure with hinged or sliding door
- Walk-in or barrier-free shower
- Open shower niche
The classic version: bathtub with shower curtain
Especially families with children don’t want to give up the bathtub. If for space reasons it is not possible to install a bathtub and shower, the variant consisting of a bathtub and shower curtain is recommended. The downside, of course, is getting started, which can become problematic as you get older. The advantage of this combined variant is the large storage space. But the wellness factor also plays a role here, because a beneficial bath counteracts daily stress and can be very relaxing.

Space saving: the shower cabin with innovative door hardware
The advantage of a walk-in shower is clearly his Space saving. The classic size of a shower cubicle is 90 x 90 cm. Of course we also offer larger, individual sizes and rectangular versions are also possible. Equipped with sliding or hinged doors, the bathroom is effectively protected from splashes of water. Doors can be made of high-quality plastic or glass. Both variants are visually very appealing and very modern. The only disadvantage is the increased cleaning effort. Silicone niches and edges increase the risk of dirt and limescale deposits. Swing and sliding doors must be cleaned regularly and kept dry at all times.
Accessibility – even in the bathroom
The advantage of a walk-in shower is obvious. Even for older generations, access is not a problem, as there is no barrier between the floor and the shower. Equipped with containment elements and enough space for a shower seat, this variant is perfect for people with walking difficulties. It is up to the builder to decide whether the shower will be equipped with a simple curtain or glass or plastic doors. As described above, both options offer advantages and disadvantages in terms of splash protection and cleanliness.

Pure freedom in the shower
Absolutely trendy are homeowners with a so-called open shower niche. The floor version also lacks a shower curtain and door. The shower niche is constructed in such a way as to ensure splash protection without curtains or doors. But functionality is not the only goal of this shower variant. Equipped with modern marble or granite tiles, the shower niche becomes the visual highlight of your bathroom. The highlight: with the Rötzer shower shelf you not only have a place to store your care products, but also a visually appealing design element that impresses with its individuality.

Our Rötzer promise: When it comes to building and renovating, we are experts. That’s why we’re here to help you with advice and support when it comes to healthcare facilities. From the first idea to the handing over of the keys.
