Centralized ventilation systems for your home

Your home should be comfortable and offer relaxation. To ensure it stays that way in the long term, we need to pay attention to one important thing: proper ventilation! To avoid, among other things, the formation of mold, minimal air exchange is necessary in the rooms. However, this is often difficult to achieve, especially in new buildings, through window ventilation alone, as modern houses are built airtight for energy reasons. That’s why we at Rötzer develop an individual ventilation concept together with you already in the construction planning phase. Centralized ventilation systems are the most convenient solution for building families: in the following article you will find out why this is so.

What are central ventilation systems?

Central ventilation systems are a form of controlled ventilation of the entire living area: the stale air in the room is conveyed outside and replaced with fresh air. For air exchange throughout the house, common pipes are used, so only a few openings in the walls of the house are necessary. Homebuilders should educate themselves on various ventilation concepts before building a home. If you decide to equip yourself with a central ventilation system, the installation should be taken into consideration at the design stage of the house. This allows you to effectively place pipes and culverts.

Save up to 40% on heating costs with heat recovery!

Central ventilation systems often feature so-called heat recovery. This means that no valuable heating heat is lost during the air exchange – in other words: you don’t have to worry about heating with the window open. During heat recovery, fresh air from outside is first heated to room temperature in the living room ventilation system before being released into the rooms.

What advantages do centralized ventilation systems offer?

Modern ventilation systems allow continuous air exchange in your home, even when the windows are closed. This ensures that the air in the rooms is particularly fresh and at the same time prevents the spread and sedimentation of odors. The installation of comfort solutions for air treatment and anti-allergy filters with integrated pollen filters leads to further living comfort in your home.

What should you pay attention to with central ventilation systems?

The installation and use of modern ventilation systems are subject to strict German and European guidelines. This is based on the following rules and laws:

  • The legislation for the technical and ecological design of energy-related products (ErP) divides the devices on the market into efficiency classes. The goal is to reduce energy consumption.

  • The DIN 4719 | 4109| 18017-3 describes the requirements for residential ventilation systems. This includes the structure, equipment, noise levels and ventilation requirements for exhaust rooms.

  • The DIN 1946-6 standard supplements this with residential building-specific requirements for ventilation systems (technical, hygienic and qualitative). It also records what the sizing, acceptance and design requirements are and the volumetric flow rate of the external air is defined.

  • The requirements regarding building density and the definition of the minimum required air exchange can be found in section 6 of the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV).

Of course, for lay people, in most cases these laws and regulations seem scary and difficult to understand. But with Rötzer you have an experienced partner at your side. We will be happy to help you keep track of the maze of rules and meticulously ensure that all requirements are met.
